Provided below is a short explanation of IRC and how to get started. First you need to get IRC on your computer. If you are running Windows, you should download mIRC here. If you are running Linux, you should download XChat here. Then install it. After that you need to open it up and enter you info (Full name, Email address, Nickname, and Alternative Nickname). After you get that info filled in, choose EFnet under the dropdown menu next to IRC Network and click "Connect to IRC Server". You should connect to the server alright, but if you are behind a Linksys router like me or a firewall, then you need to fill in the proper info. To setup a Linksys router for IRC, look at the tutorial here (you just need to find the info about Identd). Now that you are connected to a server and network, all you need to do is open a channel. In the server window, at the bottom, type "/join" and then the channel you want to join. Like I said before, I run my Fserve in #EuroDanceParty, #ScooterTechno, #EuroDance4U, and #MusikVideos. All you have to do is type on of those after the "/join", so it would be like "/join #EuroDanceParty" (without the quotes). After you get in, type "!list" to see the current File Servers. If you want to get a file from me, you type "/CTCP Poizen EuroDance Vidz" or one of my other triggers. That will open another window, type "dir" to see all my files in that directory. Once you see a file you want, type "get" and the file name. Example: "get scooter - nessaja (nude version).m2v". If you get stuck, just type "help" in my Fserve to see a list of commands (all unix commands). Note: I only allow 15 queues, and my 15 queues are always filled, so you might have to wait for a send to get finished, and then request a file. Type "sends" to see the files I am sending at the present moment. I do not always have my Fserve running and I do not always have the nick Poizen. If you don't see me, just type "!list" and choose somebody else. Their is a lot of other people in the channels that have a File Server. |
